Taste and see that the Lord is Good!

Taste and see that the Lord is good! When I was very young, maybe 6 or 7 years old, I had my first experience of being touched by the Lord on a Saturday night. I will never forget it as long as I live. It was a life changing experience and taught me so much. I had gone to bed not feeling well. I’m not sure if I had eaten something that wasn’t agreeing with my stomach or if I had a stomach virus. Anyway, I remember my stomach was in knots and was severely cramping. As I laid in the bed, I knew I had to have help. Mother and daddy had already gone to bed and were asleep. I didn’t want to bother them because daddy worked so hard on Saturday’s. (Those of you familiar with the grocery store business know how busy Saturdays can be.)

I remember my mom was so faithful to take me and my brother to church every Sunday and Wednesday and I knew the Lord in a personal way. I knew I was a child of God and passionately loved the Lord even at that age. That night, I remember saying, “Lord, I need you to help me”. I was in so much pain and couldn’t keep still. I turned the bedroom light on and grabbed my Bible. I knew in my heart that the Lord had promised He would never leave me or forsake me. I knew it was the Truth and I needed Him desperately. I opened my Bible and immediately my eyes went to Matthew 11:28 which says, “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” **I remember as if it were yesterday."**

I laid my hand on my stomach and said to the Lord, “Jesus, I come to You now and ask for rest in my stomach.” Immediately I felt my stomach began to ease. Within thirty seconds, my stomach was no longer cramping, no pain or discomfort at all. I knew He touched me!

At an early age, He began teaching me to simply trust Him. I was amazed and shocked at the same time to experience this touch from the Lord. I couldn’t wait to tell my mom the next morning. She too was amazed and rejoiced with me.

Dear friends, once you taste the Lord's goodness, you never want to dishonor Him. Once you see how much He cares about every circumstance in your life, it is life changing. When the Scripture says, “O taste and see that the Lord is good”, He really means it!

Jesus really wants us to trust Him wholeheartedly and experience His Goodness!

These are not just words on a page. The Scriptures are Promises to be fulfilled. Promises that require us to come to Him, believe and accept as a gift. I don’t know you, where you are in life or what you’re going through, but I do know this.

Regardless of where you are or what you are going through, Jesus is waiting for you to humbly come and call on His name. He is waiting to demonstrate His great love so you can personally taste and see His goodness.

This lesson was the first time the Lord touched me.

He taught me that He cares about everything in my life.

He taught me that I can trust Him in every circumstance.

Denise and I have lived this life of trust and have seen Him do amazing things. We will never not trust Him. As He has been faithful to us, so we will be faithful to Him.

We’ve tasted His Goodness and there’s no going back!

Come to Him, all you that labor and are heavy laden and He will give you rest.

Taste and See His Goodness!
